The Grainstore Brewery in Rutland has paid tribute to county veterans in its annual Christmas video.

It’s the second year the brewery has created a fun and festive video featuring mimed covers of well-known Christmas tracks, with members of the brewery, kitchen and bar teams playing key roles.

Part of this year’s video features a re-enactment of Jona Lewie’s ‘Stop the Cavalry’ and it seemed fitting to pay tribute to Rutland soldiers lost in the First World War by sharing their images.

Last month the brewery released a one-off beer, First and Last, to commemorate 100 years since the Armistice and every month it hosts a breakfast for county veterans.

Grainstore Director Peter Atkinson said: “We make the videos as a bit of fun for the team and our regulars but this year it seemed fitting to pay tribute to the fallen, too.

“We didn’t want to detract from the fun of the festive season but wanted to pay respects to Rutland veterans both past and present.”

The video also features spoofs of The Darkness’ ‘Christmas Time (Don’t Let the Bells End)’ and East 17’s classic, ‘Stay’, which were filmed on location around the county and ends with a scene featuring regulars to the Brewery Tap.

Peter added: “A huge thanks to James Weight from Stone Circle Productions who worked with us on the video again this year.”

Grainstore Brewery was founded in 1994 by Tony Davis and Mike Davies. They converted a derelict Victorian grain store next to Oakham Railway Station by installing fermenting vessels, along with copper and conditioning tanks which eventually became the 15-barrel brew house that is so popular today. Tony’s son, William Davis and his business partner Peter Atkinson took the reins in 2014 and have continued to grow the business’ legacy.
